CRPF personnel Found Demonstrating signs of fatigue, States Home Ministry officials

New Delhi: CRPF personnel set for extended  stints in the Maoist hotbed of Sukma in Chhattisgarh are  showing signs of fatigue, according to officials.   Home Ministry officials, who initially seen Chhattisgarh following 25 CRPF men’s massacre by Maoists, have discovered that the majority of all 45,000 paramilitary personnel endeavor the surgeries in Bastar region have been posted there for three decades.

“Fatigue has been discovered in jawans as most of these have been posted in Sukma for last five decades even though generally  they ought to be there for three decades,” an official said, adding that there is a decline in motivation on account of their long  deployment in the region.   Being submitted in Bastar is extremely stressful and also the jawans would rather combine counter-insurgency operations everywhere including in Kashmir, despite the fact that they face stone pelting mobs and attacks there.

This year, 32 Naxals have been killed so much while the CRPF has lost 38 personnel in Chhattisgarh, ” the official said.   As they confront guerrilla warfare in warm and humid conditions and terrain anti-Naxal surgeries take a toll on security personnel.   The home ministry officials suggested  appeared to have not been vigilant leading to high casualties.

By offering necessary infrastructure and logistics for surgeries to them the government was trying to improve the morale of the forces, ” they said.   As many as 58 mine-protected vehicles are available in Chhattisgarh into the paramilitary forces and 30 are under procedure for procurement via the Ordnance Factories Board.

About 42 vehicles are also available and 210 vehicles are under procedure for procurement, it said.   Approximately 45,000 fundamental paramilitary personnel and 20,000 state policemen have been deployed in Bastar region, which saw maximum Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh.   When compared to an average of 30 Naxals killed annually, 135 Maoists were neutralised three times the number of police personnel who lost their own lives, in 2016.
