Jessie Mejias, M.A., a well-known counselor and teacher in the Northern Virginia area since 2001, is the Founder and Director of Finding Home Ministries. Jessie’s passion and gifts are to bring healing to the body of Christ. Jessie has a long-standing reputation as a strong and godly woman with discernment in hearing from God through words, dreams and visions. She draws on her own experience of God’s ability to heal and restore as she walks with many through their life struggles and helps them find the way to wholeness.
Jessie Mejias committed her life to Christ in May of 1976, a month after she was married. Raised in a devout Catholic home, she had always believed in God but her life was radically changed when she found out that she could have a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
It was during her marriage that she learned the value of Christian counseling and discipleship, which helped her cope with an alcoholic husband. Concerned for the future of her children, she divorced her husband and dedicated herself to studying the Word and growing in the Lord. For a period of five years, Jessie sought and received emotional healing from the Lord, understanding that forgiveness was the key. At the end of that time, in a series of events that were nothing short of miraculous, her husband recommitted his life to Christ and entered the Teen Challenge program. Two years later, in July of 1986, they were remarried. Since that time, the Lord has strengthened their marriage, and her husband has been her greatest support in the ministry the Lord has opened up for her.
In 1991 she was called by God to partner with Him in counseling and helping to heal the brokenhearted and to set the captives free.
Heeding the call, Jessie enrolled at Regent University in 1999, and earned a Masters Degree in Human Services Counseling. It was there that she was introduced to inner healing prayer ministry, which, along with the training she had already received in deliverance and spiritual warfare, equipped her to begin to walk out the ministry that God had set before her.
In 2001 she was invited to become the Director of Counseling at Calvary Gospel Church in Arlington, Virginia. Besides doing one on one prayer counseling ministry, she began training others to integrate good counseling skills with inner healing prayer. She organized and hosted seminars for the community in order to spread the good news that God loves His children, He speaks to them in many different ways and He wants to heal their wounds and set them on the path of true freedom.
Jessie has been dedicated to gaining knowledge in every aspect of the Christian life. In addition to in-depth Bible study, she has been learning from those whom the Lord has gifted in specific areas of teaching such as spiritual warfare, deliverance, dream interpretation and inner healing. She believes that the Lord pours out these gifts upon His people so that the whole body may be fully, not partially, equipped and, as a result, her ministry has been shaped by several major influences:
Jessie is a certified facilitator for Elijah House Training for Prayer Ministry (www.elijahhouse.org), both Basic I and Basic II, and has also studied Theophostic™ Prayer Ministry (www.theophostic.com). She has led several groups using Cloud and Townsend’s Boundaries material (www.cloudtownsend.com) and has taught How to Hear God’s Voice and Prayers that Heal the Heart by Dr. Mark Virkler. Jessie has also studied dream interpretation with Steve and Dianne Bydeley™ (www.lapstoneministries.org), which she considers to be an integral part of her prayer counseling ministry. As a result of her renewed regard for “visions in the night,” the Lord has given Jessie many prophetic dreams to help her to speak into the lives of His children. She continues to gain understanding into the relationship between spirit, soul and body through the teachings of Arthur Burk (www.plumblineministries.org) on the human spirit and the redemptive gifts of the spirit, among other cutting edge subjects.

At the end of 2008, Jessie completed the first draft of her soon-to-be-published book, Leaving Home—Finding Home©, the story of her journey from shame to sonship through journaling. It was at that time that Jessie was led by the Lord to set up her own independent ministry, Finding Home Ministries, to provide Christ-centered ministry to the community and point the way for others to find the road “home”—the place of abundant life that the Lord has for each and every one of His children. In March of 2009, Jessie was ordained in her local church, Calvary Gospel Church. In July of 2009, Jessie received a Special Ministry License from International Ministerial Fellowship (http://www.i-m-f.org/) and is authorized to perform all sacerdotal services (communion, baptisms, weddings, etc.). She holds a license to perform weddings in the Commonwealth of Virginia and would be glad to conduct your ceremony. She is also available to speak at your event or lead your retreat. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Jessie and her husband, Alex, reside in Alexandria, VA and have one daughter, two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
